So wird der Sommer zum tierisch guten Erlebnis PALOPA

This makes summer a really good experience

Yay! Summer is finally here. Are you always completely over the moon when it's so wonderfully warm outside and nature is blooming so beautifully? Blue skies, hot temperatures – simply wonderful. The great weather also causes one or two beads of sweat on your forehead.

In this PALOPA blog post we will tell you which important points you should definitely pay attention to in order to make the upcoming heat wave more bearable for your dog. So that you both can really enjoy the summer!

Into the cool water!

Is your dog a little water rat? Then definitely spend a day together at the lake - provided there are enough shady spots where you can hang out. You can also protect it from direct sunlight using a parasol.
It's best to research online in advance which lakes in your area allow dogs. Alternatively, you can visit a small stream or set up a paddling pool in the garden. In any case, a great refreshment!

PALOPA tip: In addition to cooling off, there must of course also be action! Extensive water fights and catching water drops are guaranteed to be fun for more than just your dog. Let's go!

Stay hydrated

Always provide your dog with enough fresh water so that he can drink at any time. Even when you're on the go, you should be equipped with a foldable drinking bowl so that you can offer your friend some water at any time. Alternatively, there are also special drinking bottles with an integrated drinking bowl.

Sunrise and sunset walks

Even on hot days, your dog's exercise and entertainment should not be neglected. But you have to keep a few points in mind: Avoid the midday heat and plan your dog walks as early as possible and only at dusk in the evening. If this is not possible for you, choose routes that lead through the cooler forest or park and avoid open fields without shade.

Caution: Your dog's paws are very sensitive. Therefore, avoid asphalted and paved paths if possible. These can get very hot. Beforehand, test how hot the asphalt is with your palm and, if necessary, look for other routes.

Just chill out

Whether in nature or in the garden – a nice shady spot is always easy to find. Sit down together on a blanket, relax and enjoy the wonderful weather. Special cooling mats for dogs can also bring great joy to your friend.

Take special care when traveling by car

An absolute no-go in summer is leaving your dog in a parked car. This quickly transforms into an oven on wheels. Even if the outside temperature is only 24° Celsius, the temperature in your car climbs to 31° Celsius after 10 minutes. After 30 minutes it has already reached 40 degrees. It is therefore not enough to open the windows a crack or put a water bowl in the car.

Ice, ice, baby

In general, you should offer your dog smaller food rations in summer, as these are less stressful on his body. But if you really want to surprise your four-legged friend, then prepare a homemade dog ice cream made from yoghurt or quark. A great way to cool down from the inside out. In the summer, your dog will be just as happy about a cool summer treat as you are!

We wish you an unforgettable summer!
